Shabbat 12/1/2018

Shalom Mishpacha!

Can you believe we are in December already! Millie and I returned this week from our vacation in Europe and it was a wonderful trip! From Amsterdam to Germany and France and ending in Switzerland it was certainly full and beautiful as we cruised and bussed the Rhine River for our 43rd Anniversary! We are thankful to be home, although we are both dealing with jet lag and alot of catching up to do!

This Shabbat, December 1st, we will get our hearts ready for the festival of Hanukkah (Dedication) which begins on Sunday, December 2nd. It seems the longer I walk with The Lord the more I am impacted by not just the symbolic meaning but the prophetic reality of these times. Hanukkah is all about letting our light shine in the darkness by re-dedicating and purifying our own “temples” in a dark and hostile world. The days of the Maccabees and the Hellenistic Antiochus  Epiphanies are very similar to the secular day that we are living in 2018. Materialism, hedonism, idolatry, and selfishness are as prevalent today if not more than over 2000 years ago! I will be sharing about how we should live in these day as “lights in the darkness.”

THERE WILL BE A POTLUCK ONEG FOLLOWING THE SERVICE SO BRING A DISH TO SHARE AND STAY FOR FELLOWSHIP! (Hint, it’s totally appropriate to bring latkes and sufganiot or Jelly donuts!!)

We will be celebrating Hanukkah in various places this next week as we look forward to great fellowship and a lot of potato latkes!

*Sunday, December 2nd at 5pm we will be joining together with the Denver area Messianic community at Congregation Roeh Israel; 8556 E. Warren Ave. Denver, 80210. THIS WILL BE A POTLUCK, SO BRING A DISH! Also, bring your Hanukkiah! This is an awesome opportunity to join hands with other congregations in the city and work toward unity.

*Thursday, December 6th at 6pm we will be gathering at Russ and Siri Crider’s home, 22493 E. Maplewood Ln. Aurora,80015 for candle-lighting, food and great fellowship! Bring your Hanukkiah and either bread, fruit salad or jelly doughnuts to share. Soups will be provided.

*Friday, December 7th at 6pm we are all invited to the Busby home, 6908 W. Nova Dr. Littleton, 80128. Again, bring a dish and your Hanukkiah and and the kids and all your neighbors and let’s do Hanukkah right!

Just a reminder, this week’s Torah Club will be at the home of the Larsen’s at 3pm.
