Purim Sameach Shabbat 3/15/25
/Chag Purim Sameach!
We are celebrating the Feast of Purim this week! Although it is not listed as one of the “biggies”, on the same level as Passover or Yom Kippur, it is none the less a very important and memorable festival to observe and rejoice in. It is the amazing story of the deliverance of our people from the evil hands of those committed to destroying us! Does that sound familiar? Be it a Pharaoh or a Haman or a Hitler or Hamas, the Hand of God is always for His covenant people! Purim is a festival that God commands us to remember from generation to generation, and it also is a beautiful picture of how we are to walk and to confront evil in our day. We want to encourage you to invite a neighbor and maybe a Christian friend who doesn’t know anything about this holiday, and let them experience this incredible story, and be reminded that God is always fighting on our behalf, even when we don’t see it!
Come on out and worship and celebrate with us at Or Chaim this Shabbat! We are meeting at The Dwelling Place at 11amand our address is 16800 W.9th Ave Golden, 80401. My message for our Purim celebration is A HINGE OF HISTORY AND A DIVINE REVERSAL! As is the tradition for the Purim celebration, we encourage you to wear your favorite costume, be it the beautiful Esther, the wise and brave Mordecai or the evil Haman or even the King of Persia, come on out and let’s have fun and eat some Hamantaschen! Also, we will be putting on a hilarious Purim “Schpiel”, where we will perform the entire story of Esther and you get to be the stars! We will be having a potluck Oneg following the service so bring a dish to share and hang out with us for fellowship! Besides Hamantaschen, some other traditional foods ate at this time are kreplach (dumplings filled with ground meat, served in soup), nuts and seeds, challah, humus and meat dishes, or whatever you feel like bringing (Bible appropriate, of course)! Bring your noise-makers!
A reminder for the upcoming Festival of Passover: We will be joining with The Dwelling Place for their Seders on April 12thand 13th, THERE ARE SIGN-UP SHEETS IN THE SANCTUARY, SO MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS AND THE COST IS EXTREMELY REASONABLE! ALSO, I WILL BE LEADING A SEDER AT CASTLEWOOD CANYON CHURCH IN FRANKTOWN ON SUNDAY, APRIL 13TH (THE SAME COST OF $25/ADULT).
